What To Expect When You Arrive A notice from Drs. Czaplicki and staff
Dear Patients,
We hope you are continuing to stay safe during this time and appreciate your patience as we have been closed to non-emergent patients to ensure safety and well-being of our staff and patients. Drs. Czaplicki and staff are dedicated to minimizing the spread of COVID-19 and have been working diligently to develop policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our patients and team upon re-opening. Thank you all for your understanding through this unprecedented time.
Please review our new procedures which must be adhered to if you have an upcoming appointment with us:
We ask you to please not come if you are in any way symptomatic or think you may have been exposed to COVID-19. Please call us at (414) 427-9090 to reschedule your appointment.
- Please wear a face mask or face covering while in common areas.
- We ask that you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer upon arrival.
- Your provider will ask if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms during your appointment and document your chart.
- If you are running late, you may be asked to reschedule as it will affect the flow of minimizing the number of patients in the office at a given time.
- If you are running more than 10 minutes early please wait in your car until your appointment time.
- Out of consideration to other patients, please limit accompanying family members to one person.
We are also elevating our policies and procedures for our staff during this time:
- Our entire staff is screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms and will have a daily temperature check.
- Doctors and staff will maintain a safe distance from patients, when possible. When necessary to perform treatments, providers will don all the proper PPE including masks, face shields, gloves, and protective garments that will be changed frequently.
- Our exam rooms and high touch areas will be thoroughly sanitized after each patient.
- You will notice plexiglass barriers between the front desk and waiting room.
These are some of the things that have been done to help ensure everyone’s safety. We look forward to reopening and caring for your dental needs with the same level of quality and compassion as always.
Yours in Health,
Drs. Don and Cathy Czaplicki

Laser Treatment for Canker Sores
Aphthous ulcers, better known as "canker sores" are notorious for causing us pain and impairing our ability to talk, eat, and smile normally. Topical gels and pastes are helpful (for a little while) when a canker sore is small and tucked away. But what about those big, stinging ulcers that constantly catch your teeth or tongue?!
Rather than riding out the pain, consider treating a wicked canker sore with a soft tissue laser. Our office uses an NV Microlaser (the same one pictured in the video above) to paint over a painful ulcer. By reducing the intensity of the laser beam, we can painlessly dehydrate the top few layer of cells. The results are rapid healing, decreased pain, and a reduced chance that the sore will return!

New iPad App For Patient Consults
Czaplicki Family Dentistry has introduced a new treatment planning application for our office iPads. "DDS GP" is an exciting piece of software that allows us to take chairside discussions about your care to a new level!
Using our office iPads, we can walk you through each phase of treatment step-by-step, allowing you to better understand your options and make more informed decisions. Better yet, we can share videos to you over email so you always have them for reference from home or from your smartphone.
Our patients love the new technology, and our team love to use it! Be sure to have a look at your next visit to our office!

CEREC Crowns: Now, There's A Better Way
Let's face it; very few of us have perfect teeth, free of decay and fillings. You can probably see a filling or two in your own mouth, which do just that -- "fill" a cavity, or hole, in your tooth left from the excavation of decayed tooth structure. In many cases, those fillings are made of metal material or silver amalgam and can go bad, weaken the tooth, or get additional decay under or around it. CEREC is a system used to not only replace these fillings, but to restore any tooth that is decayed, weakened, broken, etc. to its natural strength and beauty. The CEREC machine and its software fabricates these high strength all ceramic restorations once the doctor designs them chairside. Better yet, it's all done in a single appointment! So, how does the CEREC procedure work?Exam and Preparation
First, the doctor examines the tooth and determines the appropriate treatment. It could be a simple filling, a full crown, or an onlay depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining. Next, we administer an anesthetic and prepare your tooth for the restoration, removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue. This preparation is just like we would do for many other restorative techniques.
Optical Impression
Then, the doctor takes an Optical Impression (a camera scan) of the prepared tooth. Instead of filling a tray with impression "goop" that you must bite into and hold in your mouth until it hardens, a camera is used to take a digital picture of your tooth. This whole Optical Impression process only takes a minute or two.
No Temporaries
Next, the CEREC CAD/CAM machine helps the Doctor create the restoration for your tooth. The CEREC 3D software takes the digital picture and converts it into a 3-dimensional virtual model on the computer screen. The doctor then uses his or her dental expertise to design the restoration using the CEREC 3D computer program. After the doctor designs the restoration, which only takes a few minutes, the Doctor clicks a button, and the restoration design data is sent to a separate milling machine in the office. A ceramic block that matches your tooth shade is placed in the milling machine. About 10 - 20 minutes later, your all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration is finished and ready to bond in place. Finally, the doctor tries the restoration in your mouth to ensure proper fit and bite. The restoration is then polished and bonded to the prepared tooth. Your tooth is restored with no "temporary" or return trip necessary. All of this is done in a single appointment! Ask us about CEREC today.
